Some people say, “we do not need to keep the Passover because the law has been abolished.” Or “we do not need to keep the Passover because it’s the feast of the Old Testament.” Let’s find out why these claims are not true. Was the law abolished? If then, which law has been abolished? Please look at the following verses:

1_1 Co 9 ch 9 verse 20 and others

The Apostle Paul said there are two kinds of laws: the law of Moses and the law of Christ. The abolished law is the law of Moses. (To be more precise, the law of Moses has been changed to the law of Christ.) In the New Testament times, which law should we keep? We must keep the law of Christ, not the law of Moses in this age.  The World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) keeps the law of Christ or the New Covenant. Through the verses above, we can understand that the law of Moses has been changed from the law of Moses to the law of Christ.

2_Hebrews ch7 verse 12

It’s written in the Bible that “there must also be a change of the law“. Christians today must observe the law of Christ or the New Covenant. We at the WMSCOG keep the feasts of the New Covenant. We do not celebrate the Passover of the Old Testament which was kept by killing lambs. Instead, we keep the Passover of the New Covenant with the bread and wine which represent the flesh and blood of Jesus in a manner Jesus Christ established two thousand years ago.

3_Luke ch 22 verse 15-20

Jesus Christ desired to keep the Passover and celebrated the Feast with His disciples. And the apostles and the members of the Early Church also kept the Passover, following the example of Jesus Christ. So it’s wrong to say that we do not need to keep the Passover any more.

1 Co ch5 verse 7-8

The Apostle Paul stressed that we must keep the Passover with sincerity and truth.

4_James ch 1 verse 25

There is a law [the law of Moses or the Old Covenant] which must not be kept, while there is the perfect law [the law of Christ or the New Covenant] that gives us freedom. The Bible clearly teaches us that we must keep the law of Christ or the New Covenant and those who keep the perfect law that gives freedom [the law of Christ] will be blessed.

5_Matthew ch 28 verse 19-20

Jesus promised that He would with those who obey all His commandments. The Passover of the New Covenant is also one of His commandments we must follow. Just knowing without deed does not lead us to the kingdom of heaven. Relevant actions should be followed along with faith. “As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.” (James 2:26)”
