A great crowd of people followed him. They saw Jesus curing many diseases, and  also witnessed that he fed 5,000 people with five loaves of bread and two fish. It’s really a happy miracle for them. They wanted to make Jesus king by force. In their eyes, Jesus was the best king who would feed them throughout their lives. He must have been the most suitable king who would not make them hungry as long as they lived.

Jesus went to Capernaum to escape from them. The next day, they got into the boats and went to Capernaum in search of Jesus. Jesus said to them,

“You are looking for me, not because you saw miraculous signs but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. Do not work for food that spoils [perishes], but for food that endures to eternal life… I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.”

They were not able understand the words of Jesus and began to grumble among them.

“How can he say that he is the bread which came down from heaven? Is this not Jesus, whose father and mother we know? How can he say, ‘I came down from heaven’?”

Jesus said to them once again,

“I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man [Jesus] and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink.”

It was a hard teaching for them. They turned back and no longer followed Jesus. It’s because Jesus could no longer be the king they wanted. Where did they go after leaving Jesus? Did they safely enter the kingdom of heaven and meet Jesus to enjoy eternal glory without being hungry and thirsty? (No.)

However, there were those who worked for food that endures to eternal life. They followed Jesus not because they wanted to fill their hungry stomach. They are the Disciples of Jesus including the Apostle Peter. Peter, the best disciple of Jesus, confessed, “To whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.”

Also, in this age, God is calling those who will be saved, with the same word of eternal life.

The Holy Spirit [God the Father] and the Bride [God the Mother] are saying in a loud voice, “”Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.” Like Jesus who came as an ordinary person 2,000 years ago, They came to this earth in the flesh and have been preaching the gospel of the kingdom of heaven.

What will you do? Will you turn away because They are different what you expected? Will you turn back because it’s a hard teaching? Won’t you follow Them because you will not be given physical abundance? How are you different from the Jews who left Jesus 2,000 years ago?
