Recently, a Christian pastor placed an ad in some major papers. The title of the ad was An article to erect the churches  right: illegal Sunday Service – what’s the root of it? He explained why the Sunday Service is illegal and the seventh day Sabbath  should be restored. (In addition, he expressed that the Sunday Service is a crime. Really, it’s a crime to God.) However, he suggested to continue both the Sunday Service and the Sabbath Service for the time being. It seems a good idea, but when you think it a little more carefully, his suggestion really does not make sense. If you notice that theft is illegal and when you commit this crime you will be put in jail, what should you do? You must quit it immediately. In the same way, if we realize the Sunday Service is illegal and is not based on the Bible, we must quit it right away. The Bible says that evildoers cannot enter the kingdom of heaven even if they believe in God (Matthew 7:21-23).

It is clear that the Sunday service is not based on the Bible. God commanded us to remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy (Exodus 20:8.) The Sabbath is the seventh day. Then which day of the week is the seventh day? According to the dictionaries, the seventh day is Saturday:

    Saturday Sabbath

Also according to the Bible, the Sabbath day is Saturday, not Sunday.

    Mark ch 16 verse 9

We can easily understand that Sunday is the first day of the week. Then which day of the week is the seventh day? It’s Saturday. In addition, the Catholic Church also admitted that the biblical Sabbath is Saturday not Sunday.

    Faith of our fathers

Jesus and disciples also kept the Sabbath (Luke 4:16; Acts 17:2; Acts 18:4). Now we at the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) keep the Sabbath day in spirit and in truth by following the example set by Jesus (John 4:24). Then, why is the Sabbath so important?

    Exodus ch 31 verse 13

The Sabbath is a sign between God and God’s people. God recognizes those who keep the Sabbath as His people. In the age of the Old Testament, those who desecrated the Sabbath were put to death. Now, in the age of the New Testament, if we do not keep the Sabbath, our souls cannot be saved. Let’s remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
