It happened 2,000 years ago. Religious leaders of the age took the Apostle Paul, who preached the way of Jesus Christ, to court. The allegation was that he was a ringleader of heresy (Acts 24:1-4.)

Why did he receive such a bad reputation? It’s because his faith was significantly different from the doctrine of Judaism which held religious authority at that time. The Jews believed in God the Jehovah who would exist in spirit only and thought that humans were not able to see God. However, the Apostle Paul (of the Early Church of God) preached Jesus who was God in the flesh. In addition, while Judaism was based on the Old Covenant established through Moses, the Apostle Paul was based on the New Covenant made by Jesus Christ. Due to such difference of faith, the Jews were caught in prejudice and took the Apostle Paul to court at the end.

Paul witnessed that Jesus was God although He came in the flesh. Why did he witness Jesus as God? It’s based on the prophecy of the book Isaiah written 700 years before the birth of Jesus.

For this reason, the Apostle Paul believed in Jesus, or God who came to this earth according to the prophecy of the prophet Isaiah. Besides, he said that only those who keep the New Covenant established by Jesus could be saved. The prophet Jeremiah wrote that God would abolish the Old Covenant and establish the New Covenant.

This means that the Jews whose religion is based on the Old Covenant cannot receive salvation. After hearing that, many people left Judaism and crowded into the Church of God . So the religious leaders of the age chose to take down the Early Church members with charges that they were heresy. That was the reason why the Apostle Paul was blamed as heresy in the courtroom.

The same thing repeats in these days. The World Mission Society Church of God believes in the Second Coming Christ Ahnsahnghong and Heavenly Mother, who came in the flesh, according to the prophecy of the Bible. Also, the Church of God observes the New Covenant. For this reason, the existing churches blame the Church of God for being heresy (see the table below.) However someday, history will tell the truth. Just as the Apostle Paul is currently praised as the true prophet even though he was once blamed as heresy…
