Though you have not seen him [Jesus], you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls. (1 Peter 1:8-9)

The reason we believe in God is to obtain the salvation of our souls. How can we receive the salvation of our souls?

You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures [the Bible] that testify about me [Jesus Christ] (John 5:39)

We must diligently study the Bible to receive eternal life. However, it’s written that the Bible testifies about Jesus or the Savior. Therefore, we must exactly know the Savior whom the Bible testifies about.

Just as people try to discover a vein of gold below the surface of the vast earth, we ought to seek to know the Savior who is a vein of gold within the great book of the Bible. Those who dig in other places than the ones which contain a vein of gold can never discover treasures though they spend time and money. Likewise, we can obtain the end of our saith or salvation only when we know and receive the Savior whom the Bible testifies about.

2000 years ago, there was a man who correctly discovered a spiritual vein of gold. He was the Apostle Peter. Though he owned Roman citizenship and was in a position that he could have wealth and power, he willingly gave them up. It’s because he realized the Christ, or the spiritual vein of gold.

By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time. He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward. (Hebrews 11:24-26)

I [The Apostle Paul] have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me  the crown of righteousness [And now the prize awaits me — the crown of righteousness], which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day–and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. (2 Timothy 4:7-8)

Who is Jesus Christ he realized? We also reach the salvation when we know the Savior the Apostle Paul realized.

Although he [Jesus] was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, he [Jesus] became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek. We have much to say about this, but it is hard to explain because you are slow to learn. (Hebrews 5:8-11)

This Melchizedek was king of Salem and priest of God Most High. He met Abraham returning from the defeat of the kings and blessed him [with the wine and bread], and Abraham gave him a tenth of everything. First, his name means “king of righteousness”; then also, “king of Salem” means “king of peace.” Without father or mother, without genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life, like the Son of God he remains a priest forever. (Hebrews 7:1-3)

Peter evidenced that “Jesus is high priest in the order of Melchizedek, without father or mother, without genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life.” It’s obvious that Jesus had father and mother, and genealogy. Why did Peter write in that way?

Do you know the correct answer? If not, you still have not found the correct vein of gold. The salvation of our souls is only possible when we know correctly the Savior who is the spiritual vein of gold. I hope you will realize the reason why Peter evidenced that Jesus is high priest in the order of Melchizedek.
