Ambulance_0112

This is a member’s story of the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG).

One day on my way home, I found a man lying on the street. I thought that he was drunk, but he fell unconscious, breathing very fast and bleeding a lot from his stomach. If he was just left alone, he might lose his life, so I called 119 (Korea’s emergency number). The residents there also gathered around the bleeding man one after another and watched him anxiously until an emergency rescue crew arrived. After a few minutes which felt like a long time to me, an ambulance arrived and the man was carried to a hospital immediately.

To be honest, I wanted to leave that place quickly because it was the first time for me to encounter that kind of thing. However, I could not just turn away from the dying man. Though I had never met him before, when I saw the man lying on the ground, I only thought, ‘I have to save him.’

At that time, I was reminded of the parable of the Good Samaritan who rushed to help a man who fell into the hands of robbers and was left half dead, unlike a priest and a Levite who just passed him by. There were many times when I ignored numerous dying souls and just passed them by, like the priest and the Levite in the parable. I did not realize that they would be in crisis if I did not help them right away.

It would be really frustrating if the emergency services that rescue people in danger do not arrive at the right time. Our Heavenly Father Ahnsahnghong and Heavenly Mother will be so anxious and frustrated if we neglect the work of saving souls, even though we have received the mission of saving people all around the world who are running towards death without knowing the way of salvation.

No longer will I just pass by dying souls. I will stretch out the hand of salvation to them with the heart of the Good Samaritan who tried to save a soul by giving everything he had.
