Churches that believe in the Resurrection of Jesus celebrate the Easter. The members of the established churches distribute decorated eggs on “the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox.”

However, it’s different from the teaching of the Bible. The Disciples did not eat boiled eggs and they kept the Resurrection Day on a different date. The Biblical Resurrection Day falls on “the next day of the first Sabbath of the Feast of Unleavened Bread” or the first Sunday after the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Therefore, it’s not possible to know the exact date of the Resurrection Day without knowing the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

The Feast of Unleavened Bread falls on the 15th day of the first month by the sacred calendar (Jewish calendar), the next day of the Passover. Among seven feasts of God, the Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread and the Resurrection Day are closed related. We have to pay attention to “the first grain”, which means “the firstfruits (English Standard Version)”  We can understand when is the Resurrection Day through this. Jesus was arrested on the night of the Passover, the 14th day of the first month (Nissan) by the sacred calendar.

On the night of the Passover, Jesus left this will and was arrested. On the next day, we was crucified on a cross and died. And He was resurrected exactly on the first day after the Feast of Unleavened Bread. The fulfilled the prophecy of the firstfruits as written in the Bible: “But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep (1 Corinthians 15:20).” The Biblical Resurrection Day falls on the first Sunday after the Feast of Unleavened Bread. However, apropos of nothing, why do Christians celebrate the Easter on “the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox”?

It happened about 300 years after the Ascension of Christ. In AD 325, Constantine the Emperor of Rome summoned the religious leaders to Nicea. One of the agenda was about determining the date of Pascha. The purpose of the Council of Nicaea was to end the long conflict between the Eastern and Western Churches regarding so called “Paschal controversies.” The date of the Resurrection Day was changed by people even though the date the Resurrection Day is specified in the Bible. Moreover, the Passover was abolished entirely.

The Passover is the feast Jesus eagerly desired to keep to give us the forgiveness of sins. The  Feast of Unleavened Bread is a feast for commemorating the pain and sacrifice of Jesus, the Resurrection Day is a feast for celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus. We should not forsake the noble will of Jesus. Otherwise, everything Jesus did will be in vain. Once again, the Resurrection Day falls on “the first Sunday after the Feast of Unleavened Bread”.

Note: Easter is a pagan festival and is not based on the Bible.

Easter, like Christmas, has accumulated a great many traditions, some of which have little to do with the Christian celebration of the Resurrection but derive from folk customs.. The use of painted and decorated Eater eggs was first recorded in the 13th century (from “The Origin of Easter and Its Customs” section of Encyclopaedia Britannica (Encyclopaedia Britannica Inc., 2010))

Note: Today, the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) does not celebrate the Easter, but the Resurrection Day according to the teachings of Christ Ahnsahnghong.
